Meet Your Coach
Have you ever felt like the world decided your worth based on your body?

I sure have - I know that horrible feeling all too well.

I'm Claire, the founder and Head Nutrition and Wellness Coach at Claire Cares Wellness. This section of a website is usually dedicated to beautiful words, but we all have a story, and I've decided to be open and vulnerable with you about mine.

I was always on the bigger side, both in height and in weight. I was bullied at school (remember the BFG book by Ronald Dahl? I was called BFG at school, only the acronym meant Big Fat Giant, not Friendly), and I was body shamed at home. I remember being told at the age of 14 that I would never find love because I was fat and nobody wants to be with a fat woman.

I carried this throughout my adult life. Of course, this wasn't true, but it naturally stuck with me, even if subconsciously. I had a horrible relationship with food and my diet consisted of mainly pasta, pizza, and frozen food, mostly because it was all I knew, it was easy to make, and it was cheap.
Breathless — and Finally Awake
Then I got a dog, Alpha, a beautiful creature who had the sweetest character I have ever known. He was a husky, so naturally he needed lots of exercise.

One day, I was chasing him in the yard, and I lost my breath after one minute. I was crunched over the wooden table when I looked at Alpha and thought to myself "I need to get in shape if I want to keep chasing you". That was a major turning point in my life.

I got rid of all the unhealthy food in my house and hired a personal trainer. I was a heavy smoker and I got rid of my cigarettes too. I started taking care of myself because I wanted to be better for Alpha.

I had lost 35kg when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto, a thyroid disease that affects my metabolism. That made the last few KG difficult to lose, but I haven't given up yet, and I never will.

Helping You Heal From the Inside Out

My experience made me realise that my passion is to help other women who have been bullied, body shamed, or simply don't like what they see in the mirror, become the best version of themselves.

This means working on your relationship with food, reframing those pesky negative thoughts, and helping you reach your goals without having to starve yourself or giving up your favourite foods. Despite what the media says, there really is no need to!

If my story resonates with you, get in touch. I'll help you feel strong, seen, and at peace in and with your body.
Most importantly, I'll remind you that you’re not in this alone 💜
